► ► ICOM CECA 2024, workshop in Abidjan, Africa

The Committee for Education and Cultural Action (CECA), under the aegis of ICOM (International Council of Museums), organised a regional workshop from 25 to 28 November 2024 at the Musée des civilisations in Abidjan-Plateau. The meeting brought together museum professionals from Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Mali and Benin to discuss the theme: “Social sustainability/natural sustainability: the urgent need for education”. The aim was to build the skills of museum professionals and promote museum education as a lever for sustainable development.

Project carried out by CECA, in collaboration with ICOM NATHIST, ICOM France, ICOM Côte d’Ivoire, the Musée de la Civilisation de Côte d’Ivoire, and with the support of the ICOM African Regional Alliance, the ICOM National Committees of Burkina Faso, Benin and Mali, the ICOM National Committees of Greece, Spain and Argentina, the UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa, and the Musée de l’Eau of Burkina Faso.

XIV Regional Meeting of CECA LAC.
‘Museum Education and Democracy: Diversity, Inclusion and the Right to Memory’, November 25th to 27th, 2024.

VIII National Forum of Museums – Democracy and the Right to Memory.
25 to 30 November 2024, Fortaleza – Ceará (Brazil)

The National Forum of Museums, organised by the Brazilian Institute of Museums (IBRAM), is a national event that aims to reflect, evaluate and outline the guidelines of the National Museum Policy and consolidate the basis for the implementation of an integrated management model for Brazilian museums. There has not been a National Museum Forum since 2017, so the event is highly anticipated by the Brazilian museum community.
The CECA LAC Regional Meeting will be articulated with this Forum and will benefit from the programme as a whole, which includes: conferences, panels, coordinated communications, short courses, working groups and parallel programmes.
