Obituary notice
Cornelia Bruninghaus-Knubel (1943-2024)
Cornelia Bruninghaus-Knubel was a very active member of CECA, which she chaired for six years between 1983 and 1989. She attended her first CECA conference in Budapest in 1973.
Cornelia was indeed a real pioneer museum educator during a period when enthusiasm for the transmission of modern art to All led to the recognition of the importance of museum education not only in Germany but worldwide.<Cornelia Bruninghaus-Knubel 2025>

Irina Antonova
The CECA Committee for Education and Cultural Action of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) is sad to announce the passing away of its first chairwoman Irina Alexandrovna Antonova (1922-2020), president of the Pushkin Fine-Arts Museum which she led for more than 50 years and ICOM honorary member.
From vice-president at the very creation of the committee in 1965 during the 7th ICOM General Conference in New York, Mrs Antonova was elected the first chairwoman of the committee in 1968 during the 8th ICOM General Conference in Cologne and Munich, a position she kept until 1974.
Her role in the organization of the 1st CECA conference in Moscow and Leningrad in 1968 under the auspices of the USSR ICOM national committee on the Role of Education in Museums was crucial in the further development of the committee.
Under her chairmanship the first journal of the CECA committee came to light in 1969.
Our condolences to her family, friends and colleagues.
